My name's Ray Dannelly.
Many years ago, I was a student at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. I'd frequently head over to a friends dorm room, where a bunch of us would gather to play videogames, watch anime, and just hang out. Eventually someone got the idea to start a club, which because the UNL Anime Club, Otaku Jinri.
I was an active member of the Anime Club for many years, and held a couple of positions. I made several friends there, and watched quite a bit of anime. THe club expanded, and began to have activities outside of the regular club meetings.
Somehow, I missed the very first Anime Nebraskon.
I don't recall why I missed the first NebKon. I think I had the wrong impression that it was just a weekend marathon, or maybe I had something else going on that weekend. Whatever the case, I missed it.
But I did attend the second Anime Nebraskon, and have attended every year since. I've been a regular attendee, a VIP, a panelist, a volunteer, part of Staff, and a cast member of the Awesome Rangers. I've attended the summer BBQs, the fall trips to Vala's Pumpkin Patch, more than a few Staff Meetings, remained active on the FaceBook Page, and generally been an active member of the NebKon community.
These days I live in Columbus Ne, which depending on how fast you drive, is about 90 minutes from Lincoln or Omaha. For several years I've worked overnight at a local grocery store. Between nocturnal habits, and driving time, I've not been as active with NebKon as I'd like to be. But I still love the community, and do what I can to help.
