Help! I'm a parent!

Parents are perfectly welcome at NebKon. The convention started as part of a college club, and anime tends to be aimed for a young crowd, so the vast majority of us are highschool or college age. However, the convention has been running for over 10 years now, some of us have grown up, gotten married, and had kids. We're parents too. We work hard to make sure the convention is safe and fun for everyone. Now, really little kids of course shouldn't be running around a hotel on their own, but high school age or older should be just fine.

While the vast majority of ateendees are highschool or college age, there's a huge range of activities, so you're bound to find something you'll enjoy as well. And if you'd like to just walk around a see things, the hotel is a public place, so you're perfectly free to see everyone in the halls. We do ask that only people we a convention badge attend the panels, as it's only fair to those who have bought one. But if you've a specific concern, feel free to talk to a staff member, or to go to ConOps and someone will be glad to help. We have a dedicated Security and Medstaff who stive to make certain everyone is safe.

Now this is a college age group. There is alcohol, and some distinctly mature material around. But all mature panels are marked as being 18+, and we check IDs before people can drink. We keep our 18+ panels towards the evening, and check ages of people trying to enter. The vast majortiy of panels are perfectly fine for kids. Which isn't to say mistakes don't happen. Drinks get left unattended, and off-color humor slips out. But we do make an effort to keep NebKon family friendly, so that EVERYONE can enjoy themselves.
